Zach’s New Life

June 15, 2015

Zach update 3

You may remember that we adopted out blind Zach last November to a wonderful couple from Maine, Laura M. and Robin E. They’ve been kind enough to send us periodic updates, and I’m delighted to share the latest one they sent, along with some of the photos. That’s Zach above in their yard with some gnome buddies.

Robin wrote:

“Could it really be only since last November that he has been with us? He has certainly settled in to our hearts 🙂 … He loves to be held and rocked and falls asleep immediately. And since the weather warmed up we have found that he loves to be outside with us. It’s amazing how confident and happy he is! We take him literally everywhere with us and he enjoys every minute. Usually when I tell people he is blind they say “awwww so sad” but there is no “awwww” about him – he is joyous and curious and full of love!”

Here he is looking for Laura and Robin on the couch:

And here he is napping with his favorite toy on top of his own sleeping bag:

Thank you so much, Robin and Laura!

Shelter Challenge – Next Round Underway

The latest round of the Shelter Challenge has begun, and because the first contest’this year was a “beta” under their new system, those results aren’t really “official” … meaning we are still eligible for first prize in the current state contest. And cash prizes are back, so if we win first in New Hampshire, we could win $1,000. At the moment we are well ahead in New Hampshire, so your votes are adding up! Please remember, you can vote every day. This contest runs until August 9th. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing the updates on Zach. He looks happy and very much at home.

Glad to hear you are still eligible for the state prize, and that the prize will be cash. Much better than beds!
