Zach Gets Adopted!

November 17, 2014

Zach with Robin and Laura 1

Yes, lovable blind?Zach has?a wonderful new family to call his own! Robin E. and Laura M. from South Portland, Maine, came out on Sunday to meet Zach. It was, as they say, love at first sight. (Well, except in Zach’s case, it was more like love at first sniff!) Zach, you may remember, had come to us last year from Michigan, where he had been surrendered to a shelter after his owner had died. We had already agreed to take another blind dog at the shelter, Darla, and Zach showed up just before our transport arrived to get her. So the shelter asked if we could take him as well, and we said yes. Zach turned out to be a playful, joyful little character. He loved to roughhouse with us, and we could get into quite a conversation with him because he liked to talk back.

Robin and Laura had lost their Shih Tzu Henry a couple of months ago, and had started looking for another companion to add to the family. Robin saw Zach on our PetFinder page and emailed us about a week ago about him. The timing was perfect, because our groomer was here on Thursday and Zach was all spiffed up and ready to present himself!

Zach couldn’t get enough of Robin and Laura?yesterday, and during the photo session he was trying to sneak in a couple of extra kisses:

This morning Robin emailed to say Zach was doing great, had settled in and already found his way around the house. She wrote, “Today when we all got up he started wagging his tail and it hasn’t stopped since! I’m afraid he is going to sprain it. :)”

Thank you, Robin and Laura, for giving this sweet tyke a loving new home!

How wonderful for Zach to have a family of his own. I hope Robin and Laura check out your blog and continue to send photos and give us blog readers updates on the little cutie. Thank you Robin and Laura for not excluding an animal with one small disability when looking for a new friend. And he’s in his new home just in time for lots of Christmas presents and treats!

Something very extra special to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Something in my heart tells me that Robin and Laura’s Henry had a wonderful influence in making this most happy ending come true. And many other very kind folks along the way- not the least of which- Rolling Dog Farm.
    So happy for you all!

Here is an update on Zach we just sent to Steve and Alayne.
Zach did so well at thanksgiving, it was truly remarkable. We set up a bed for him under the coffee table for a safety zone, though during the meal he set himself up under the dining table!
Every day we learn something new about him! He’s funny and sweet and my guess is that at some point he had a wonderful life with someone. He gets all excited when I ask him if he wants to go to work and settles right down on his bed as soon as we get to the Bookstore, a perfect gentleman. Yet at home (and at camp) he is active and playful and silly! We love him and are so thankful to have him in our lives. And thankful to you both for rescuing him!
