Why Are They Always In My Chair?

January 12, 2015

Sunny with Darla in chair

Back in early December I posted a photo of Sunny in that same chair with Holly, who was surprised he’d jumped into the chair with her. Neither dog budged, leaving a crowded chair for two. Sunny has continued to?find his chair occupied by various female dogs, and as you can see, it doesn’t stop him from climbing on up anyway. Interestingly, the girls always tolerate him. (He’s lucky — Widget, who was always in one of the’two?Ikea chairs, would have sent him packing had he tried this with her.) That’s Darla with Sunny?in the photo above, during a momentary absence from my recliner.

Here he is settling?in with Aurora, who no doubt is wondering why exactly he’s there:

Sunny with Aurora in chair

Aurora frequently rotates between the two Ikea chairs, not showing any particular preference. It’s clear, though, that Sunny has a distinct preference for this one chair, whether he has to share it or not!

About the captcha issue with blog comments: Our web designer installed that captcha over the holidays because I’d mentioned to her that we were starting to get hit with spam comments. Unfortunately, that particular captcha had an imbedded time-out feature, set to 90 seconds, so if you didn’t enter the right number within the 90 seconds — and I think the clock started ticking the moment you opened the blog post — you’d get an error message. And the resulting error message it generated wasn’t helpful at all. What you needed to do, not that it told you, was to go back to the page and refresh, then enter the number again in the captcha. A complete pain. I didn’t realize this and have since had our designer uninstall it. I’m sorry for the problem it caused.

Poor Sunny never seems to have a smile on his face – but what a cute face it is! At least with Aurora he has room to get comfortable. With Darla, who is no lightweight, not so much.

Dogs are nothing if not stubborn. And of course they all want to help keep your chair(s) warm for you!

Don’t all dogs steal chairs? They’re definitely more comfortable than the floor!

Sunny always looks pretty pleased with himself while his partners always look perplexed about the turn of events. It is good to see a close up or Aurora. The mention of Widget brought back a flood of memories. I always picture by her tree planning her next move in world domination.

I think you may need to buy another chair, so you have someplace to sit! But then, someone would just take that over too, I suppose. I think they think that your place is behind the camera 🙂

I wish I could figure out how to get my two big dogs to share my bed with me! I’m tempted to get myself a little cot; but they may take that, as well. :o)

They are always in “your” (aka “their”) chair because they LOVE YOU! Plus, the little ramp probably doesn’t hurt. Bottom line though is they love the chair because they associate it with you…..nice to be loved. 🙂 We should all be so lucky. Happy New Year!
