Tanner Meets Mr. Snake

January 4, 2016

Tanner with snake 1
We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! You may remember our last blog post, where Stella was doing some early Christmas gift unwrapping. Well, we packed everything back up, and then on Christmas Day we set the box on the living room floor. Sure enough, Stella returned immediately to see what she might have missed the first time, while Tanner immediately spotted the thing he wanted: a very long stuffed toy snake.

In the photo above, you can see Stella has helpfully pulled off the blanket on the top of the box (first things first, after all), revealing the rest of the contents. Tanner sees the snake and begins pulling on it. But then he discovered’there might be more to this than he realized … the snake just wasn’t coming right out of the box like all the other toys typically do … so he dropped it?and’stepped back to ponder the situation:

Then he goes at it again with a firmer grip:

And he pulls…

And pulls…

He is so startled when the last of this very long creature finally comes out of the box that he promptly drops it:

But he soon decides to settle in for a long chew-fest on Mr. Snake:

And a Merry Christmas it was!

I love it! Great job capturing photos of the key moments in this story. Especially love the one of him eying the snake suspiciously after he finally has it out of the box. It’s always fun to present a few choices and see which one(s) they go for first. Hope you had a great holiday break!

I’m glad to hear that you all had a good Christmas! I know it must have been full of love and fun with all those rascals at the farm. Tanner is becoming my favorite, I think. He just melts my heart. Happy to have the blog back – Happy New Year to everyone!!

Brings back memories of the first Mr Snake. Wasn’t it Bailey who used to use it as a head rest? Ah, the wonderful life the animals have at RDF. Those who are there now and those who have gone before. Sorry, was feeling a bit sad for the ones who are gone – Callie, Widget, Baily,Goldie..

Whatever happened to Willie, the shy beagle who had to return to you when his owners were transferred overseas? He was one of Widget’s first “projects”.
