Pals And Their Toys

Tanner and Taco with toys 1

That’s blind Taco, our newest arrival, and his buddy three-legged Tanner looking up in the middle of a joint chew-toy destruction contest.

It’s been fascinating to see how Taco, who lived his entire life chained up outside, has become an amazing little “house dog” who acts like he was actually someone’s beloved pet living the cushy indoor life. He has adapted so quickly to living inside?– with the best of house manners — that we’ve been astonished. And even at his advanced age (14, we were told), he has now discovered the joys of chew toys.

After realizing I was taking photos and not handing out dog cookies, they went back to work:

Though each toy had squeakers in them, neither Taco nor Tanner is particularly interested in the sound effects; they just like quietly chewing and pulling the stuffing out.

I think we’re all happy to see how well Taco is doing. It’s amazing how resilient animals can be. Taco seems happy to have found a wonderful home and a friend with whom he can share toys and good times. It is rather funny how they both went back to the chewing once they realized that there were no treats being given out. Funny guys!

Something as simple as the freedom to have a pal and a toy just makes you want to smile and cry at the same time. He’s waited sooooooooo long to have those things. Do you need more toys because I’d love to send him toys to terrorize.

Oh yes, stuffing-removal is a favored activity here too. Taco is amazing. Just goes to show how adaptable dogs can be. I’m so happy to see him enjoying the good life.

I am so glad little Taco gets to spend the rest of his life warm, safe, full tummy, and chew toys galore with his pal Tanner by his side! I only wish ALL dogs had it so good……..

I have two dogs and the small one is a “stuffing puller-outer” and the big one is a “must-kill the squeaker” so they tag-team the chew toys until they are completely obliterated to say the least.
