Well, she finally did it. Stella, our blind and deaf Pug, managed to sit on our (retired) livestock guardian dog Aaron. Over the past few years I’ve posted a number of times photos of Stella sitting on our disabled dogs, like here and here.
Why she does this we don’t know, and as we’ve said before, we don’t know why the other dogs let her do this. They usually don’t agree to it at first, but she is stubborn and keeps persisting, and eventually they give in.
But Aaron had been fending her off successfully. He’s a Maremma and weighs more than 100 pounds, so getting on top of the rest of his body was quite a reach for little Stella. A growl and a shake of his huge frame was enough to send her scrambling away.
So you can imagine my surprise when I walked into our sun porch one day recently and saw Stella not only sitting on Aaron, but sitting on his head! The only thing moving was his eyes. He looked at me as if to say, “Why is this happening to me?”
My question back was, “Why are you letting her do this to you???”
His head, it turns out, was the only part of him she could get on top of … and on this particular day, he relented.
Dogs can be very strange. Just one more thing to love about them. I’m sure Stella is happy to have ticked the last box on her list. 🙂

That’s hilarious! Poor Aaron, the indignity of it all. I love Stella, she’s a pistol.
Not only was it totally enjoyable getting to see that Stella is still up to her funny antics, but to see her and Aaron are both doing well is terrific! Stella is so persistent and the look on Aaron’s face IS saying why is this happening to me! What a laugh. I am so glad you posted about them so we could see they are both OK. Thanks!

So cute! If I lived there I would beg to come and give much of love and help the best I could. I am almost 61 and know how having everything worked on. Many joint pains. These animals are so lucky to have you two. Love watching Mr and Mrs Jack Hanna for many years. This is how I seen your Sanctuary. Hope to be able to donate to you all one day!!!
