This gorgeous?girl is Ella, who came to us back in early 2010 as a frightened thing, soon overcame her issues with people and learned to trade on her beauty, and was later adopted that same year by a wonderful couple in Napa, California, Paul and Jennifer M. (They had earlier?adopted blind and deaf Gabe from us, but lost him late last year.) Paul and Jennifer have’sent us updates over the years, and recently?emailed’that photo above.

“I wanted to share a photo of Ella that well…is kind of the essence of her attitude in regards to giving out kisses!!! You see, Ella is not one to give out kisses randomly, or when asked…..no, no……Ella requires payment and or compensation if one is to garner a kiss from this girl. Today, I made her a sign so that people can better understand this furry girl, and her reluctance to give up the occasional act of affection!!!”
Thanks for sharing this, Paul!

No cheap fluzzy, this girl!! She doesn’t just give those kisses out willy-nilly. The look on her face is so serious, you can tell she means business, with no exceptions! Way to go Ella!
There’s a girl who knows how to do business! It’s funny how some dogs are very restrained with their kisses, while some are equally unrestrained. Great photo, thanks for sharing! Nice to see Ella doing so well.
I always thought Ella was such a beautiful dog; happy to see this charming update on her! So sorry to hear they lost dear Gabe 🙁
I remember how frightened beautiful Ella was and how lucky she was when she landed at RDF and then got adopted. She got over that quickly in her new home. I’m so sorry to hear about the beautiful Gabe. He overcame so much and was able to enjoy his senses at the end of his life. RIP, sweet Gable. Ella, you go, girl. Kisses on your beautiful nose.
Ella is a beautiful girl. So glad she was able to overcome things and find a wonderful family. She’s certainly got a racket going on there…she knows how to play the game!
Ella looks so BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so sorry to hear about Gabe–he was a miracle. Paul and Jennifer—you are special. Thank you RDF.
I just love the updates of former RDF alumni! So happy to see Ella is still doing well. She has come so far!
Pictures of Ella always bring tears to my eyes, as she looks so much alike my beloved Camilla, whom I lost in August 2010…
I’m so sorry to hear about sweet Gabe’s passing, but happy to know that Ella is loved and pampered by Jennifer and Paul.
I’ve missed seeing your posts Carla. Hope you’re well.
Ella Bella!!!! Well, she is an original southern lady where random kissing would be frowned upon! Oh how nice to see this photo. It’s hard to believe it has been four years! Thank you Paul and Jennifer for adopting Ella and Gabe. I looked back in the archives and see you adopted him in 2010 also. Those three years with your family must have been wonderful. He was one of my favorites. (but then they all are really!) These two dogs were such great examples of the wonderful work Steve and Alayne do.
Sorry to hear about precious Gabe’s passing but so glad he had
3 years with awesome pet parents. Ella looks great and I love
what Paul shared. Keep up the good stories all those of you
who adopted animals from RDR / RDF, we love seeing and
reading about the beloved adopted animals.
Ella!! So good to see this smart girl. I am sad to hear Gabe has passed away but still so thankful he was given the love and care he needed to live the rest of his life with such a great family and know such love. Now, Miss Ella…I am so proud of you and how far you have come. You look great and beautiful as ever. Thank you Paul & Jennifer for the update…we love visiting with old friends.
