Alayne took that photo of little Wilbur this morning on a bed in the living room. He’s really old now — what age precisely we don’t know — but he was already a senior when he came to us back in 2012. Wilbur is mostly blind in that one eye now, deaf, and rickety. Because he has no teeth, that ridiculously long tongue of his still hangs out of his mouth, as you can see in the photo. He has that elderly, stiff gait when he walks, but bless his little heart, he manages to get around okay (though we carry him in and out). He still has a great appetite, and yammers for his food whenever he thinks we’re within four hours of mealtime. His potty habits aren’t the best anymore, which is why seeing him on a fresh, clean bed that size brings to mind the large pile of laundry to do later. Oh, well.
