Stella finally did it. After nearly two years of trying to sit on Allie Mae and Sunny — the last two holdouts who would send her packing if she made the attempt — they’ve finally given in. Not happily, I must point out, and still with some vocal protestation, but submit they have.
Out of 15 available dogs here, Stella has now managed to sit on every one of them. That’s quite a record, though we still don’t know why she has this urge to sit on her friends.
Here she is sitting on Sunny, who despite his name has the least “sunny” disposition of any dog on the farm:
That’s a dog who I honestly thought would never let Stella do this to him, but I also never thought Allie Mae would either. You just have to give Stella credit for sheer perseverance!
I know Stella is blind, but is she also hard of hearing or def? If so, perhaps she sits on other dogs so she would be made aware if the rest of the pack was leaving to go outside or be fed. Seems like it is a very smart move on her part, to make sure she doesn’t miss anything!

I am reminded of that quote from Winnie the Pooh — “Rivers know this — There is no hurry. We shall get there someday. “
I’ve seen a lot of funny dog antics in my life, but nothing quite as funny as Stella and her sitting. The fact that she sits like that at all is laugh out loud funny. But knowing she had to “climb” Allie to get to that spot on top of her is just hilarious. Maybe Sunny was chilly and she lent a bit of warmth. Whatever the reason, I am betting she knows exactly that she has reached this milestone of all dogs sat upon. You must experience some enjoyable days indeed living with that crew! The dogs and you both made out well in that deal.
This just cracks me up! I guess we’ll never know why Stella needs to do this. I’m just glad she’s in a place where she has lots of buddies to perch on.
Everyone needs a hobby, even if it is a strange one like training all your peers to let you sit on them. 🙂 It looks like she has a short, thin coat of fur, so maybe she just enjoys lying on something warm. One of my dogs has short, thin fur and mostly hairless belly, and the second anyone sits down she jumps into their laps to use them as a heating pad.
Thanks for all the snuggly photos! Hope everyone is managing to deal with the recent cold weather during those necessary visits to the yard!
