Blind Billy Update

May 4, 2015

Billy under blanket

I’m overdue in sharing some photos that Tracy W. in Vermont has sent us of blind Billy, who she adopted last December. She reports that Billy is doing very well indeed, as these photos of him?in some of his favorite places show. Above, under the comforter. Next, in Tracy’s lap along with the cat:

Billy and cat

Then, waiting for Tracy’s partner Karl to finish a meal and hoping a) something falls off the table or b) something is left that Karl will offer up as a treat:

Billy with Karl

Notice the Beagle nose pointed skyward (i.e., in the direction of food!).

Finally, here’s Billy snuggled on the couch:

One very happy blind boy, thanks to Tracy and Karl!

Shelter Challenge Is Back

After several months of retooling, the Shelter Challenge is back with a new contest’starting today. This is a “beta” round and runs only until May 17th. You can vote here: ShelterChallenge.com?For people who rely on these blog posts for the link … please just bookmark the site the next time you logon. We’re only blogging once a week right now and you can vote every day, so the best way to keep that link handy is to save it to your favorites.

“Beta” means the new system is still being refined?and tested. I was able to vote today without a problem. However, please note: I cannot fix anything with the Shelter Challenge. I have no “inside information” or special access to the people who run it. They don’t respond to our emails either. If you encounter an issue or some frustration, I cannot help resolve it. Hopefully this new system will be better than the one they had last year that proved so frustrating to so many of us. I guess we’ll find out!

Billy looks very happy indeed. Blindness never means not finding your way to the table for Beagles. So typical. Thank you Tracy and Karl for giving Billy such a wonderful and loving home.

He does have quite the beagle nose, as illustrated in the first photo. 🙂 I’m sure he always knows when someone’s having a snack. Love the last photo especially. Thanks for sharing these!

    Hi Steve and Alayne,

Billy looks utterly content. Thanks to you, he’s found a perfect home.

Voted in the Shelter Challenge just now without any problem. Finally! What a mess that last website was. How many thousands of dollars in donations did they lose because people couldn’t get it to work?

Always admire all your good work.

Thanks so much for Billy’s update! What a doll he is! And thanks for the heads up on the Shelter Challenge. I will give it a go right now!!

I’ll keep trying, but as for now I keep getting a ‘service unavailable’ notice when I try to log in/vote on the Challenge.

Nothing more wonderful than your very own forever home complete with a cat buddy!
Congratulations to everyone who helped Billy find his way, especially Rolling Dog Farm. 🙂

Another beautiful newsletter arrived today! It’s good to see Stella and Tanner in the spotlight. Tanner has a great smile, and I know he’ll catch some attention when I post the newsletter at work. I love your writing too, you’ve definitely got a gift!

My daughter and I have been wondering whatever happened to Trooper. We had hopefully awaited his adoption and wished we could have been the ones. Because of a very jealous rescue lab and a very old kitty (17 years), we couldn’t.
